Thirteen leather-bound papyrus codices written in Sahidic Coptic, found near the cliffs of Jabal al-Tarif by local farmers in December 1945. They preserve texts central to the study of early Christianity — including the only complete copy of the Gospel of Thomas — and rank among the finest witnesses of classical Coptic prose.
