Coptic Museum founded in Cairo

Marcus Simaika Pasha founds the Coptic Museum in Old Cairo to gather Coptic artistic and manuscript heritage in one place; it was inaugurated on 14 March 1910 and grew into the world's largest collection of Coptic artifacts, today including codices of the Nag Hammadi library.

Why it matters for the language — Manuscripts gathered here made classical Coptic visible to scholarship and the public alike.
